Ce sunt „orașele-burete”, mecanismul prin care Uniunea Europeană vrea să reducă inundațiile. Ce face Bucureștiul cu apa de ploaie
Recent floods in Europe, particularly in Spain, France, Italy, and Romania, have prompted the EU to develop a 'Sponge Cities' mechanism. This approach aims to retain and reuse rainwater to mitigate flooding and drought effects. Various European cities have already implemented similar strategies, such as Rotterdam's water retention systems and green roofs in Malmö. The concept, initiated by Chinese architect Kongjian Yu, focuses on using natural landscapes to manage rainwater effectively. While beneficial, experts caution that 'Sponge Cities' should complement traditional drainage systems, especially in historic urban areas. Bucharest is already adopting this model with new projects to manage rainwater.
