Ce spun primele indicii genetice semnificative pentru tulburarea de personalitate borderline
A recent study has identified genetic variants linked to borderline personality disorder (BPD), marking a significant advancement in understanding its biological mechanisms. Researchers conducted the largest genome-wide association study (GWAS) to date, analyzing data from over 12,300 individuals with BPD compared to more than a million without. They found 11 genomic regions associated with BPD, explaining about 17% of the hereditary risk. The study also highlighted genetic overlaps with other mental health conditions, particularly PTSD. However, the authors caution that genetics alone cannot determine individual risk, emphasizing the importance of environmental factors.
