Employees do not automatically lose unused vacation days at the end of the year. The Labor Code allows for unused days to be taken within 18 months if justified reasons prevent their use. Vacation must be scheduled collectively or individually, and employees cannot unilaterally decide when to take time off. Compensation in cash for unused vacation is only permitted upon termination of employment. Medical leave does not affect the right to annual leave, which must be granted within the specified timeframe. Employers must schedule vacations for the following year by the end of the current year.
