Romania is expected to maintain its position as the largest corn exporter in the EU for the 2026/2027 marketing year, despite a significant reduction in cultivated area. The USDA report highlights that Romania's exports may remain stable due to strong demand from the Middle East and North Africa, while other European countries face declines. The overall corn production in the EU is projected to decrease, impacting export volumes. Romania's corn cultivation has dropped by 14%, with an estimated total production of 6.8 million tons. Internal consumption is also expected to decline, influenced by reduced feed usage.
