The Ministry of Environment announced the issuance of an environmental agreement for the Cornetu-Avrig hydroelectric project, marking a significant step for Hidroelectrica. However, further stages and challenges remain before the project can start generating electricity. The environmental agreement must align with government expropriation decisions and technical documentation updates. Legal challenges to the agreement could cause delays, and existing contracts with construction companies face issues due to insolvency. The project aims to produce 156.8 GWh annually, enough to power over 52,000 households, contributing to Romania's renewable energy goals. The project includes five stages, with ongoing works on Câineni and Lotrioara, and measures to mitigate environmental impact have been established.
