RoPay is a national instant payment service in Romania that allows users to send and receive money directly through mobile banking apps. Payments can be made via QR code scanning, phone number, or contactless NFC, eliminating the need for manual IBAN entry. Developed with the Romanian Banking Association, RoPay enables instant transfers between different banks. Users can send money to friends, pay bills, or make purchases. The service is free for individuals and is managed by TRANSFOND, ensuring secure transactions through banking authentication mechanisms. Currently, RoPay is limited to domestic transactions only.
