However, the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarifies that the CEI does not have GPS capabilities and cannot track individuals. The chip stores personal information such as name, birth date, and digital certificates, while fingerprints are deleted after the card is issued. CEI is not a tracking device and requires user consent for data access. Those who prefer not to have a chip can opt for a simple identity card, which lacks certain functionalities but does not collect biometric data.
