However, wine consumption has declined to about 22.8 liters per person, influenced by a poor harvest. Overall, Romanians drink more alcohol than the EU average, with 11.6 liters of pure alcohol per person aged 15 and older. Additionally, a concerning 36% of adults report episodes of excessive drinking monthly, significantly higher than the European average.
