CE accelerează programul IRIS²: constelația de sateliți va fi extinsă la 348 de unități

The European Commission and SpaceRISE consortium have signed an agreement to implement the IRIS² satellite constellation, expanding it to 348 satellites. This initiative aims to enhance defense, security, and emergency response capabilities. Negotiations established technical and financial parameters, with initial launches planned for 2029. Once operational, IRIS² will provide secure communication services for EU member states and participating countries. The program is a public-private partnership involving major European space industry players and will be funded through the EU budget and member contributions.
