Witnesses reported a strong gas smell prior to the explosion. The gas pipeline, over 40 years old, failed at two points, contributing to the tragedy. Recovery work on the affected building began in September 2026, aiming to restore residents' homes. The explosion resulted in four fatalities and numerous injuries, displacing many residents.
