Ryan, who was sentenced to ten years for allegedly gathering military intelligence for France, is expected to fly to Paris soon. The pardon included 19 other prisoners, with four being foreign nationals. France criticized the legal proceedings against Ryan as arbitrary. The agreement aimed to facilitate the release of two French citizens detained in Azerbaijan, with Usmanov's removal from sanctions being a key condition. Another prisoner, Anass Derraz, remains incarcerated despite the deal.
