CCR: No legal conflict between Government and ICCJ over judges' salary arrears (sources)
The Romanian Constitutional Court ruled there was no constitutional conflict regarding judges' salary arrears between the Government and the High Court. The court dismissed a referral from interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, who claimed the judiciary overstepped its authority in budget matters. The High Court had previously won a case requiring the Government to pay 4.8 billion lei in salary arrears, which the Bucharest Court of Appeal upheld. The Government must comply with the ruling within ten days or face penalties for delays.
