CCR a motivat decizia privind amendamentul Fritz: Legea Integrității se va aplica atât situațiilor viitoare, cât și „efectelor viitoare ale raporturilor juridice trecute”

The Constitutional Court of Romania justified its decision to declare constitutional the amendment affecting Timișoara's mayor, Dominic Fritz, stating it applies only prospectively. The court emphasized that the new law does not have retroactive effects, meaning it will only impact future situations and not past legal circumstances. This ruling indicates that Fritz will lose his mayoral mandate within 30 days of the Integrity Law's enactment. Critics from USR and Ilie Bolojan's team argue that the amendment is a political attack against Fritz. The court reaffirmed the principle of non-retroactivity in law, ensuring the integrity of public office is maintained.
