Anastasia Taburceanu, cousin of Moldova's President Maia Sandu, returned over 1.1 million MDL to MoldATSA, covering all her earnings during her employment. This included salary, bonuses, and other payments. Following a request for a detailed calculation of her remuneration, she initiated the repayment process in July 2026. The funds were transferred in four installments, and MoldATSA confirmed receipt. The case sparked public outrage due to her reported high earnings, leading to her resignation and commitment to return the funds. The Finance Minister stated that such repayments are legally permissible in accounting.
