Cauza de fond a destrămării coaliției și a reformelor incomplete (Op-ed)

Following the 2025 presidential elections, the governing coalition implemented an economic program that reduced the budget deficit significantly, primarily through tax increases rather than structural reforms. While some reforms were achieved, such as changes to special pensions and public administration, many others remain incomplete. The political landscape has shifted towards illiberal nationalism, surprising many observers. This shift mirrors trends seen in Poland and Hungary, where similar political movements gained traction. The coalition faces challenges due to internal divisions and the need to balance budgetary constraints with economic growth. The political elite underestimated the support for illiberalism, complicating their governance efforts.
