Over 8.5 million employees contribute to this system, with investments primarily in Romanian state securities and the Bucharest Stock Exchange. Additionally, voluntary pensions in Pillar III are gaining popularity, with over one million Romanians accumulating nearly nine billion lei, also a 40% rise. Withdrawals from Pillar II are allowed only under specific conditions, such as retirement or disability.
