New regulations by Romanian authorities set clear limits on tobacco and alcohol imports from Bulgaria, considering cumulative quantities over specific time frames. The rules aim to combat micro-smuggling and clarify what constitutes personal use. For tobacco, limits include 800 cigarettes and 1 kg of smoking tobacco over 40 days. Alcohol limits are assessed annually, allowing 10 liters of spirits and 110 liters of beer, among others. Exceeding these limits may lead to tax obligations, as the products would no longer be classified as for personal use.
