In the first eight months of 2026, 4,782 companies and authorized individuals entered insolvency in Romania, marking a 4.85% increase from 2025. Bucharest recorded the highest number of insolvencies at 861, while Bihor, Cluj, Ilfov, and Timiș followed. The least insolvencies were noted in Covasna and Harghita. In August alone, 357 entities went into insolvency, with the majority in Bucharest and Bihor. The wholesale and retail trade sector saw the most insolvencies, significantly increasing compared to the previous year.
