Hidroelectrica will increase electricity prices starting in October, affecting new customers and those with expiring contracts. The price will rise from 0.45 to 0.515 lei/kWh, a 14% increase. This change will lead to higher monthly bills for consumers, with potential costs ranging from 1.19 to 1.27 lei/kWh depending on the region. For example, a 100 kWh consumption could result in an additional 8 lei on the bill. The price hike is linked to reduced Danube river flows impacting production, necessitating purchases from more expensive markets. Existing contracts will remain unaffected until their expiration.
