Starting October 1, 2026, Romania will implement a new rovinieta pricing system based on vehicle pollution standards. Electric vehicles will also see increased fees, with a daily charge of 20 lei. The new pricing structure will vary according to the Euro pollution norm, with older vehicles facing higher costs. For example, Euro 3 vehicles will pay significantly more than Euro 6 or electric cars. Additionally, the TollRo system will be introduced for trucks, charging based on distance traveled. Some road crossings will become free, benefiting drivers heading to the coast.
