The Ministry of Finance has launched a new edition of the Tezaur state bonds, offering tax-free annual interest rates up to 7.50%. This initiative provides a secure investment alternative for Romanians looking to protect their savings from inflation. The bonds come with flexible maturities of 1, 3, and 5 years, with the main advantage being the absence of taxes on earnings. For instance, investing 10,000 lei over 5 years at 7.50% yields a total of 13,750 lei without any deductions. The entry threshold is low, with a nominal value of just 1 leu per bond. The purchase process is simplified, available online or through physical locations. While the returns are nominally positive, inflation must be considered to assess real gains. If inflation remains below the bond rates, investors can achieve substantial real profits.
