Food waste is a significant issue in Romania, exceeding the EU average, with households being the main contributors. Approximately 181 kg of food waste per person is generated annually. Changing eating habits, such as ordering food separately for each family member, exacerbates the problem. Experts suggest that planning meals and cooking at home can help reduce expenses and waste. The EU aims to enforce mandatory waste reduction targets by 2030, including a 30% decrease in household food waste.
