The price of diesel in Romania may rise by up to one leu per liter in the coming weeks if the U.S. bans diesel exports. Dumitru Chisăliță, president of the Intelligent Energy Association, warns that this could lead to a new crisis in Europe, which is already facing multiple challenges. The potential ban could affect about 5% of global demand, impacting prices worldwide. European imports of U.S. diesel have already decreased significantly, contributing to rising prices at the pump. If the U.S. halts exports, Europe could lose a substantial portion of its diesel supply, leading to price increases of 10-12% in just a few weeks. In Romania, diesel prices could reach 12 lei per liter shortly after such a ban is implemented.
