An optical illusion attracts many tourists to a lake in Italy, where a giant castle appears to rise from the water. The village nearby also seems partially submerged. This phenomenon has gained popularity among visitors to Lake Barrea in Abruzzo. The medieval castle and the village of Barrea are situated on a rocky slope above the lake, creating a striking visual effect. Viewed from the opposite shore, the castle and houses seem to emerge directly from the water due to the area's elevation differences. Interestingly, the lake itself is not natural, having formed decades ago with the construction of a dam.
