An experiment showed that while a modern prefabricated house lost heat quickly, the wooden cabin maintained warmth for nearly three days. This efficiency is attributed to thick walls, airtight construction, and large stone stoves that release heat gradually. Traditional cabins also featured smaller rooms and insulated floors, reducing energy needs. Modern homes, however, often rely on continuous heating systems and have multiple air leakage points, making them vulnerable to heat loss during outages. Some principles from traditional designs can be applied to modern construction for better heat retention.
