Starting August 1, 2026, individuals unable to visit identity offices due to medical reasons can request their identity cards at home using mobile stations. This new procedure allows for data collection, including facial images and signatures, without needing to visit a physical location. The old identity card model from 1997 will still be issued in special cases, but its use will be restricted. The new electronic identity card offers additional functionalities, including travel capabilities within the EU. The changes aim to facilitate access to identity documents for those with mobility issues.
