Thousands of Romanians who have leased or sold agricultural land are eligible for annual payments from the state. The Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) has authorized payments totaling 26.65 million lei for 19,354 beneficiaries of agricultural life annuities for 2025. Payments are made in a single installment by November 30, 2026. The amount received depends on the land area and the method of transfer, with 100 euros per hectare sold and 50 euros per hectare leased. Only those who became rentiers before December 31, 2009, qualify for these payments. Beneficiaries must have their rentier cards validated annually by August 31, 2026, and payments are distributed through APIA's county centers.
