The Romanian government has signed contracts worth €5.7 billion with German company Rheinmetall under the SAFE program, marking the largest external order in Rheinmetall's recent history. The contracts include 298 Lynx KF-41 infantry fighting vehicles, 11 advanced air defense systems, and the construction of 4 naval patrol vessels. Over 50% of the program's value will return to the Romanian economy through technology transfer and local production. Deliveries are set to begin in 2028 and conclude by 2030. Additionally, Rheinmetall Real Estate Romania has acquired the Mangalia shipyard for €138 million, ensuring its operational continuity after a complex liquidation process.
