Care este cea mai veche biserică din București? În ea au fost încoronați mulți domnitori ai Țării Românești • Newsweek România
The oldest church in Bucharest, known as St. Anton or Curtea Veche Church, was built in the mid-16th century by Prince Mircea Ciobanul. It served as a coronation site for many rulers of Wallachia for nearly 300 years. Located near the ruins of the former Voivodal Palace, it has historical significance, witnessing numerous events throughout the principality's history. Although some claim that the Church of Bucur is older, documentary evidence supports St. Anton's precedence. The church was consecrated in 1852, adopting the name of a nearby church destroyed in a fire. It has endured wars and fires, reflecting the tumultuous history of the region.
