MI6 of the UK has been ranked as the most powerful intelligence service in Europe, surpassing France and the Netherlands, according to a recent expert evaluation. The British agency scored 251 points, praised for its expertise in recruiting high-level informants and infiltrating elite circles in Russia, China, Iran, and Turkey. The assessment, conducted by L’Express, involved intelligence professionals from 25 countries. France's DGSE ranked second with 169 points, noted for its global reach and operational capacity. The Netherlands, Ukraine, and Germany rounded out the top five, while Slovakia was deemed the weakest. Romania placed 11th with 15 points, followed by Spain with 13. MI6's long-term investment strategy and willingness to employ dirty tricks were highlighted by experts.
