Romania has not experienced early parliamentary elections for nearly a century, with the last occurring in December 1933 during King Carol II's reign. The political landscape at that time was marked by instability and the rise of extremist movements. Following the appointment of Ion G. Duca as Prime Minister, the Parliament was dissolved just days later, leading to elections that resulted in a significant victory for the National Liberal Party. The elections were marred by violence from extremist groups, culminating in Duca's assassination shortly after. Since then, Romania has not held any early parliamentary elections, with the current constitutional framework imposing stricter conditions for dissolution.
