Când a apărut primul telefon fix în România? Prima linie telefonică, instalată într-o casă particulară în 1890 • Newsweek România

The first fixed telephone in Romania was installed in 1890, following the invention by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876. Initial installations began in major cities, with the first public line established in Iași in 1882. By 1890, the first private telephone was set up in Grigore Capșa's home. The telephone network expanded rapidly, reaching over 100,000 lines by 1939. However, the rise of mobile phones in the 1990s led to a significant decline in fixed-line subscriptions, which peaked at nearly 4 million in 2008. Today, mobile phones dominate communication in Romania, with fixed lines becoming increasingly rare.
