Canal Panama - Traficul va fi redus din cauza fenomenului meteo El Nino - Economica.net
The Panama Canal will reduce daily traffic starting September due to decreased rainfall linked to the intense El Niño phenomenon. This year's El Niño is expected to be exceptionally strong, causing global weather disruptions. The Panama Canal Authority reported that rainfall levels have been significantly below historical averages, impacting water levels in artificial lakes crucial for canal operations. Starting September 3, the daily ship passage limit will decrease from 36 to 34, and then to 32 by September 15. The authority warns that further reductions may occur if weather conditions worsen, potentially extending waiting times for ships without confirmed transit reservations.
