The Canadian government has canceled a joint inauguration ceremony for a new border bridge with the U.S. due to new American tariffs on Canadian goods. Instead, Canada will hold its own ceremony on July 24, ahead of the bridge's opening on July 27. The Gordie Howe Bridge, linking Ontario and Michigan, has been a source of tension amid ongoing trade disputes. Canada will pay 50% of net revenues from the bridge for 15 years to a U.S.-controlled fund. The bridge, costing CAD 6.4 billion, has been under construction since 2018.
