Starting October 1, 2026, trucks and buses over 3.5 tons will be charged per kilometer based on road category and pollution standards, replacing the current vignette system. The new TollRo system will be implemented under the Electronic Road Tariff System in Romania, collecting fees based on vehicle weight and emission class. The unit tariff will include infrastructure usage and external costs related to traffic pollution. A mobile app, TollRo, has been launched for easy payment of these fees, allowing users to calculate and pay directly from their phones. The app is currently in a pilot phase and will be available for both iOS and Android devices.
