Călin Georgescu has been placed under judicial control instead of preventive arrest in a case involving organized crime and fraud. The Bucharest Tribunal rejected the prosecutors' request for a 30-day preventive arrest. Georgescu was detained for 24 hours before appearing in court, where the judge decided on the control measure. He is being investigated for allegedly being part of a criminal group that misled a businessman regarding a €6 million funding scheme, requiring a guarantee of €1.1 million that was not returned. The investigation included multiple searches conducted by DIICOT and police.
