Călin Georgescu, ridicat din trafic de DIICOT. Percheziții într-un dosar de înșelăciune cu prejudiciu de peste 1,1 milioane de euro

On September 21, law enforcement conducted five searches in Bucharest and nearby areas related to an organized crime group and fraud case. Călin Georgescu, a former presidential candidate, was arrested during a traffic stop. The investigation targets three individuals, including two Romanians and an Italian, accused of forming a criminal group in 2021 to defraud victims in Romania and the UK. They misrepresented themselves as wealthy businessmen offering loans, leading a victim to transfer over 1.1 million euros as collateral for a promised loan.
