Calin Georgescu, reținut 24 de ore de procurorii DIICOT

Călin Georgescu, a former pro-Russian presidential candidate, has been detained by DIICOT for alleged fraud involving 1.1 million euros. Prosecutors plan to request his preventive arrest. He was apprehended in Otopeni while heading to a gym, and searches were conducted at multiple locations. Alongside him, businessman Ionel Rusen was also taken into custody. The investigation revealed a criminal group that misled Romanian entrepreneurs about accessing foreign bank loans, resulting in significant financial losses for victims. The group operated both in Romania and the UK, promising large loans in exchange for monetary guarantees.
