Călin Georgescu află astăzi dacă rămâne în arest preventiv în dosarul de înşelăciune de 1,1 milioane de euro

Călin Georgescu's preventive arrest is under review today by the Bucharest Tribunal, following a request from DIICOT for a 30-day extension. He has been in custody since September 29 and is contesting this measure. Previously, the Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected his request to replace preventive arrest with house arrest. Georgescu faces serious charges of organized crime and fraud involving 1.1 million euros, stemming from a complaint by businessman Răzvan Leu. The investigation revealed that Leu was misled into paying a guarantee for a non-existent loan, which was supposed to finance Georgescu's presidential campaign. Ionel Rusen, also in custody, is implicated in the case, and discussions about seeking political asylum in Italy have surfaced.
