Călimănești trece la termoficarea pe energie geotermală
The town of Călimănești in Vâlcea County has initiated a public procurement tender worth 53 million lei for the design and execution of geothermal heating system upgrades. The project aims to reduce fossil fuel dependency and enhance energy efficiency for heating and hot water supply. It includes two main infrastructure components: a new geothermal well and a fully equipped thermal point in Călimănești, and a new independent geothermal production and distribution system in Seaca. The investment is funded by non-reimbursable European funds and is expected to be completed within 12 months. Călimănești joins a select group of Romanian cities utilizing geothermal resources for urban heating, following Beiuș and Oradea.
