Calendarul zilei 17 septembrie: Sf. Sofia și fiicele sale Pistis, Elpis și Agapis

On September 17, Orthodox Christians honor Saint Sophia and her daughters, Pistis, Elpis, and Agapis, who lived during Emperor Hadrian's reign. They were martyred for refusing to worship pagan gods, with the daughters aged 12, 10, and 9. Saint Sophia buried them outside the city and died three days later. Their graves are located on the Via Aurelia, where the Church of Saint Mucenic Pangratie was built. Since 1992, Saint Sophia has been the patron saint of Sofia, Bulgaria.
