Calea ferată București-Giurgiu se închide în 2027

Train services between Romania and Bulgaria will be suspended for over eight months in 2027 due to modernization works on the Bucharest-Giurgiu railway line. From April 5 to December 13, 2027, passenger and freight trains will not operate on the Giurgiu-Ruse route, and alternative routes will be established for international transport. The project, costing 2.108 billion lei, aims to electrify and modernize the railway infrastructure to meet European standards. Key improvements include electrification, new signaling systems, and the construction of a viaduct. The project is funded by the Connecting Europe Facility and is expected to be completed by September 2028, enhancing transport capacity and safety.
