Calea ferată București–Giurgiu: lucrările au ajuns la 15%

The modernization of the Bucharest Progresu – Jilava – Giurgiu Nord – Giurgiu Nord Frontieră railway line has reached 15% completion. The project, valued at 2.108 billion lei, is led by Arcada Company and Alstom Transport, focusing on electrification, signaling upgrades, and ERTMS Level 2 implementation. Ongoing works include platform leveling and concrete structures. The project aims to enhance a 93.45 km railway segment, improving capacity and efficiency for both passenger and freight transport. A temporary closure of the international rail connection through Giurgiu is expected from April to December 2027, with full reopening anticipated by September 2028. This modernization is crucial for integrating Romania into the European TEN-T network, facilitating international freight transport.
