Calea ferată București–Giurgiu: ce lucrări se execută

The modernization of the Bucharest Progresu – Jilava – Giurgiu Nord – Giurgiu Nord Frontier railway line is currently at 19% completion. The project, valued at 2.108 billion lei, is managed by RailWorks, a partnership between Arcada Company and Alstom Transport. It includes infrastructure upgrades, electrification, and the implementation of the ERTMS Level 2 traffic management system. Ongoing works involve the railway infrastructure, platforms, and passenger buildings. The project aims to enhance railway connectivity between Romania and Bulgaria, with completion expected by September 2028. This modernization is significant as the line is historically the first railway built in Romania, inaugurated in 1869.
