Europe is currently experiencing a new heatwave, with Spain recording its highest temperature of the year at 45.7°C. This extreme heat was noted in El Granado, Andalusia, breaking previous September records. Meteorologists predict continued high temperatures, especially in southern regions. France is also affected, facing temperatures between 38-40°C and active wildfires, including one in Aude that has burned 120 hectares. This summer has been the hottest on record for France, with severe drought conditions. Across Europe, millions are enduring extreme temperatures, with the continent warming at a rate double that of the global average since the 1980s.
