Calculatoarele vechi ascund o mică avere: Metoda prin care aurul poate fi recuperat folosind un material neașteptat
Researchers at ETH Zurich have developed an innovative method to recover gold from electronic waste using whey protein. The process involves extracting metals from old computer motherboards and transforming whey proteins into nanofibers that effectively adsorb gold ions. This method yielded a nugget containing 91% gold, showcasing high purity. The approach addresses the challenge of recycling electronic waste, which is projected to increase significantly in the coming years. The economic analysis indicates that the costs of raw materials and energy for this process are significantly lower than the value of the recovered gold. Future developments may expand the method's application to other electronic waste and protein-rich byproducts.
