The Czech Office for Documenting and Investigating Communist Crimes is exhuming the remains of former minister Jan Masaryk to clarify the circumstances of his suspicious death 80 years ago. Masaryk, a pro-Western politician, was found dead in 1948 shortly after a communist coup, initially ruled a suicide, but doubts remain. The investigation has been reopened with new evidence from diplomatic documents, aiming to explore the possibility of murder. Masaryk was the son of Czechoslovakia's first president and served as foreign minister during WWII, refusing to resign during the communist takeover.
