Police in Hunedoara are investigating the theft of copper cables valued at over €590,000 from the Mintia power plant. Eighteen search warrants were executed at the homes of twelve suspects, leading to the seizure of copper cable pieces and cash. The investigation began after a report in August 2026 regarding repeated thefts of cables stored at the site. The suspects, aged between 22 and 48, are believed to have been involved in various roles related to the theft, transport, or sale of the cables. They have been summoned for questioning as the investigation continues under the supervision of the local prosecutor's office.
