The school year 2026-2027 has started, and parents and students are eager to learn about the merit scholarship rules. The proposed amount for the merit scholarship remains at 450 lei per month, pending government approval. The scholarship is available to up to 15% of students in each class who achieved an average of at least 9.00 in the previous year, with additional criteria for behavior. Special cases exist for ninth graders admitted without the national evaluation based on exceptional achievements. For fifth graders, the scholarship is based on the average of the first two terms of the current school year. Payments are made monthly, and students must avoid accumulating 10 or more unexcused absences to retain their scholarship. Merit scholarships can be combined with social and technological scholarships.
