Bulgaria will end its mandatory dual pricing system on August 8, 2026, transitioning fully to the euro. The dual pricing system was introduced on August 8, 2025, displaying prices in both leva and euro. After the transition, prices will only be shown in euro, with leva as a voluntary reference. Consumer protection measures will remain in place, and authorities will monitor unfair practices and price increases. Banks will continue to exchange leva for euro until December 31, 2026, with the Bulgarian National Bank offering unlimited free exchanges. Retail chains with significant turnover will still need to publish daily prices for essential products.
